The 2014-15 men’s basketball schedule has been released, and several high profile matchups dot the early portion of the season. The Bisons kick off the season at home on November 14 with a game against Berry College, followed by the home slate of Battle of the Boulevard on November 17. The team will travel down the road to Vanberbilt on November 20 and finish up the Battle of the Boulevard 2014 series at Belmont on November 24. Lipscomb’s first game outside of Nashville will be on November 30 against Colorado of the newly-minted Pac-12. After three straight games in Tennessee at Tennessee Tech, at home against Tennessee State University and on the road with Austin Peay on Decemeber 3, 6, and 13 respectively, the Bisons will travel to Austin for a matchup with Big-12 powerhouse Texas on December 16. SEC newcomer Missouri will receive a taste of the Lipscomb game on January 3 in Columbia in the last road game before A-Sun Conference play kicks off on January 10 at home against Northern Kentucky. Key conference tilts include two games against recent March Madness darlings Florida Gulf Coast, one on the road (January 31) and one at home (February 14), as well as a home (January 13) and away (February 25) slate with USC Upstate. Freshman Ellen Lundy has already recorded big accomplishments and made several memories during her first season on the Lady Bisons soccer team. Lundy finished the regular season as the Atlantic Sun co-leader in points with 31. The freshman standout scored 14 goals overall, setting a Lipscomb record for most goals in a season. She was also recently ranked number 68 on Top Drawer Soccer’s top 100 freshman list. And, this past weekend, she had a major role in helping the Lady Bison reach their first appearance in the conference tournament in school history. Lundy hails from Rogers, Ark. She says her decision to come to Lipscomb was an easy one. “When I came on my visit, I loved the culture and community of the school,” Lundy said. “Then, I met the girls and coaches, who were so awesome. It was just encouraging and easy.” Entering the biggest stage of her career yet, Lundy wanted to prove she belonged at the collegiate level. “I didn’t know what to expect coming in, but I just wanted to prove I could play at the Division I level and accomplish my goal of helping contribute to the team anyway I could. I feel like I did that,” Lundy said. One of Lundy’s favorite moments of the season was the Lady Bison big 2-1 win over Mercer, who is the defending A-Sun champion. Lundy scored both goals with the game-winner coming in the 83rd minute. “Looking back, when we beat Mercer was a huge win for us that kick started our season and gave us energy and hope that we could make the tournament,” Lundy said. Every sports team needs a leader to look up to. For the Lipscomb Bisons volleyball team, Kaycee Green is that leader. “I have the role of being a leader on my team especially being the only senior,” Green said. “I have the responsibility of being that person everyone can look at when we are down or that person that has to be the consistent one or need to be that go-to person to get a job done.” Although it sometimes may be difficult, Green said she has embraced the role as the single leader. “It’s hard being the only senior and having to be such a big leader and an example,” Green said, “but I have taken on that responsibility and loved every minute of it. Being the only senior and having to step up being a leader has really helped me grow a lot this year as a player and person.” Stats prove how Green has grown as a player this year. She’s been named A-Sun Player of the Week, named to the All-Atlantic Sun Second Team, ranks first in the A-Sun, and named TSWA Player of the Week, among other awards. The native of Cookeville, Tenn., along with titles, has 393 kills with 272 of those kills taking place in conference games. Head Coach Brandon Rosenthal has been with her the entire way, and Green thanks him for everything he’s done for her, admitting that she thinks she can be tough to coach. “I know I’m not the easiest person to get along with or coach at times,” Green said, “and he has been there for me...
